QBE Accounts and Tax Senior / Accountancy Practice Manager – Client Facing - Heswall, Wirral, Salary: £35 - 40k
This is a fantastic opportunity for a QBE practice accountant, who wants real variety in their working day, not another nine-to-five behind a screen. You'll spend the majority of your time on accounts and tax work for a loyal portfolio of small business, corporate and personal clients, and the rest of your time as the friendly, capable face of a well-established local practice – greeting visitors, answering the phone and keeping the office running smoothly.
QBE Accounts and Tax Senior / Accountancy Practice Manager – This Role Is Ideal For
- A qualified or QBE (Qualified by Experience) accountant with solid practice experience in accounts and/or tax
- Someone who enjoys being part of a small, close-knit team and doesn't mind wearing more than one hat – from preparing accounts to greeting clients and supporting the running of the practice
- Someone who values a genuinely calm, low-volume office, over a high-pressure, fast-growth environment.

QBE Accounts and Tax Senior / Accountancy Practice Manager – Responsibilities
Accounts & Tax
- Preparing small business and personal accounts
- Preparing and filing corporate and personal tax returns
- Managing a portfolio of simple business, corporate and personal clients
Practice Management
- Raising bills and allocating receipts
- Setting up new clients on internal systems
- Assisting more broadly with the day-to-day running of the practice
Client & Office Front of House
- Greeting clients and visitors as the first point of contact
- Answering the phone and handling a low volume of calls (fewer than 10 per day on average)
- Supporting around two client meetings a day, including making refreshments for visitors
QBE Accounts and Tax Senior / Accountancy Practice Manager – Requirements
- Qualified or QBE (Qualified by Experience) accountant
- Prior experience working in a similarly sized accountancy practice is essential
- Experience in accounts and/or tax (ideally both)
- A sociable, friendly personality – comfortable being the first face clients see
- Comfortable with a role that blends technical work with administrative and reception duties
- Looking for stability and consistency in a friendly and supportive environment
