Role Overview
Ensure the quality, conformity and right-first-time delivery of stainless steel welded and fabricated products manufactured for the UK municipal water sector.
Provide hands-on manufacturing quality support across welding, fabrication, inspection, documentation, supplier quality and customer requirements.
Investigate non-conformances, apply practical root cause analysis, support corrective actions and promote continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System, including procedures, quality plans, inspection records and audit readiness.
- Prepare and maintain ITPs, inspection check sheets, quality plans and product release documentation.
- Provide hands-on quality support for stainless steel welding, fabrication, assembly, finishing and testing activities.
- Interpret drawings, specifications and inspection requirements to confirm conformity and identify quality risks.
- Raise, investigate and manage non-conformances relating to manufacture, suppliers, customers and project documentation.
- Use quality data, defect trends, audits and lean principles to reduce recurrence, waste, rework and latent defects.
- Support supplier quality through goods-in checks, documentation review, corrective actions and performance monitoring.
- Protect the Company’s commercial, operational, legal and reputational interests through effective quality and compliance control.
- Support safe working practices and comply with relevant health, safety and environmental requirements within manufacturing, inspection and site environments.

Candidate Profile
Essential Experience Requirements
- Manufacturing quality background, preferably in heavier industrial, engineering, OEM, welding, fabrication, utilities or similar technical manufacturing.
- Experience in quality engineering, assurance or control, including inspection, documentation, product conformity and release processes.
- Practical experience investigating quality issues and applying structured problem-solving or corrective action methods.
- Understanding of welding and welded fabrication quality, with ability to read drawings, specifications and inspection requirements.
- Understanding of quality standards and management systems, including ISO 9001.
- HNC/HND, apprenticeship, degree or equivalent experience in engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, welding, quality or a related discipline.
Desirable Experience Requirements
- Experience with stainless steel fabrication, tanks, vessels, pipework, mechanical packages or water/wastewater utility products.
- Working knowledge of standards such as BS EN 1090, ISO 3834, ISO 9606, ISO 15614, EN 10204 or related specifications.
- Basic lean knowledge, including waste reduction, 5S, standard work, visual management, flow and continuous improvement.
- Training or certification in internal auditing, welding inspection, NDT awareness, quality engineering, lean manufacturing or problem solving.
- Experience supporting internal, supplier, customer or third-party audits, including preparation and close-out of findings.
