Job Description
Role Overview
Ensures reliable delivery of Quality Control operations to GBHF that meets appropriate HSEQ standards through effective management of laboratory staff, techniques, and equipment. Can deputize for QC Manager where appropriate.
Key responsibilities
- Own operational performance for routine analysis within QC at GBHF.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to operate the QC laboratory in a safe and efficient manner.
- Establish and maintain day-to-day contact between customers and other support or technical groups in turn supporting effective delivery of analytical services.
- Encourage the team to assess the fitness of analytical results, and assets, so that deviations and faults are rectified in a timely manner thus ensuring the reliability of area.
- Actively manage team compliance with HSEQ systems and thus ensure that company and site standards are met.
- Carry out effective performance management of the shift and day analyst team, ensuring that staff have the required competencies to carry out their work safely and effectively.
- Maintain the group Competence Management System (CMS) and identify opportunities to improve the analytical capability of staff.
- Regularly monitor, record and share analytical service performance data with the EHQ, laboratory staff and site management team as appropriate.
- Look for continuous improvement opportunities encouraging staff to do the same and take the lead for implementation through small projects.
- Maintain practical expertise in specific analytical techniques and apply this in the improvement, troubleshooting of established methodologies and instrumentation.

Qualifications
Required skills and experience
- Proven people leader (expectation minimum 2 years line management experience).
- Previous analytical experience in a laboratory (expectation minimum 5 years).
- Deep experience of administering analytical quality systems (document, method, LIMS management).
- Experience with working with local, regional, and global stakeholders.
- IT and data literate, advanced problem-solving skills.
- Qualification BSc Honours Degree in relevant scientific discipline, or appropriate experience.
