The Quality Control Technician is a key team member who supports continuous improvement activities for the entire organization. By analyzing product quality and technical data, the QC Technician facilitates the pursuit of excellence at every level in the organization. The Quality Control Technician performs routine and non-routine chemical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and stability samples. The QC Technician is responsible for ensuring products meet established quality standards and specifications through the execution of analytical testing, maintenance of laboratory equipment, and accurate documentation of results under the direction of the QC Supervisor or Manager. This position is also responsible for identifying quality trends, supporting root cause investigations, participating in continuous improvement initiatives, and providing data-driven recommendations that improve product quality, manufacturing consistency, and customer satisfaction.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare reagents, solutions, and standards for testing.
  • Evaluate raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and stability samples.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and good laboratory practices (GLPs) to ensure accurate and precise test results.
  • Record and document analytical data in accordance with company requirements and applicable quality standards.
  • Support the Quality Management System (QMS) and applicable ISO requirements to ensure compliance with company quality policies and established procedures.
  • Participate in Root Cause/CAPA activities to investigate and provide solutions for any quality deficiencies and to support opportunities for process improvement.
  • Prepare test reports and summaries for review by the QC Supervisor or Manager.
  • Perform functional checks, maintain, and verify the proper operation of laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and perform minor repairs when appropriate.
  • Identify potential quality trends and escalate observations or concerns to the QC Supervisor.
  • Support investigations involving product quality concerns, out-of-specification results, and customer complaints as needed.
  • Monitor quality data using statistical analysis and/or Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the department and organization.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, R&D, and Technical Service to support product quality investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare laboratory reports, summaries, and technical documentation for review by the QC Supervisor or Manager.

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • 0-3 years in a lab, manufacturing, or quality control environment is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing at a laboratory bench.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty pounds.
  • Must be able to use a band saw and other preparation equipment safely.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to pass required medical examinations related to respirator use.
  • Must be able to operate and handle spray foam equipment as required to support testing and quality control activities.
