Role Description
Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, mandatory)
Employment Type: Permanent | Fixed-Term Contract | Contract (Inside IR35)
Start Date: Immediate
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse business and functional requirements to create comprehensive test scenarios, test cases, and test plans for Data & Analytics solutions.
- Validate data ingestion, transformation, aggregation, and reporting processes across Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and downstream reporting platforms.
- Perform end-to-end functional testing of data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and business rule compliance.
- Execute data validation, reconciliation, regression, and user acceptance testing across source, staging, curated, and reporting layers.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and Architects to understand requirements and define test coverage.
- Design and execute automated data validation and reconciliation tests to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
- Support continuous testing practices within CI/CD and DataOps pipelines.
- Investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and work closely with engineering teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Ensure traceability between requirements, test scenarios, defects, and release deliverables.
- Contribute to quality engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skillset
- Strong experience in Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and Lakehouse testing.
- Hands-on experience testing data solutions built on Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2), and related Azure services.
- Proficiency in SQL for data validation, reconciliation, and complex data analysis.
- Experience with Python and/or PySpark for test automation, data validation, and large-scale data testing.
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT testing, source-to-target validation, and data quality testing.
- Experience validating batch and near real-time data pipelines.
- Familiarity with GitHub, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
- Understanding of data modelling concepts including Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, Lakehouse, and Medallion Architecture.
- Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, and Lean.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience testing analytics, reporting, business intelligence, and data product solutions.
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data reconciliation processes would be advantageous.
