QESH Manager | Cleckheaton | Full-time, Monday to Thursday 8:00 am - 4:45 pm, Friday 8:00 am - 12:30 pm | £45,000 per annum
Our client is a long-established subcontract precision engineering manufacturer supplying the valve, filtration, and defence industries. Established in 1974, the company employs 35 people and operates around 30 CNC machines, generating an annual turnover of approximately £3 million.
With over 50 years of engineering expertise and a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and precision manufacturing, they are looking to appoint an experienced QESH Manager to take ownership of the company's Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety activities at their Cleckheaton facility.
This is a key role working closely with the Managing Director, production teams, and inspection department to maintain compliance, drive continuous improvement, and support the company's ongoing success.
The Role
As QESH Manager, you will be responsible for leading the company's integrated Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety systems while ensuring the highest standards are maintained across the manufacturing operation.
The role will include:
- Taking ownership of the company's Quality Management System (ISO 9001), ensuring ongoing compliance and continual improvement
- Supporting the management of Environmental and Health & Safety systems (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001)
- Managing and developing the inspection function and supporting inspection personnel
- Working closely with production teams to improve quality performance and reduce waste, scrap, and non-conformances
- Leading internal audits and supporting external customer and certification audits
- Managing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), including customer complaints and internal quality issues
- Conducting root cause investigations and implementing effective improvement actions
- Reviewing quality data, producing management reports, and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Supporting health, safety, and environmental initiatives across the business
- Delivering toolbox talks, promoting safe working practices, and supporting employee wellbeing
- Maintaining quality documentation, procedures, and compliance records
- Working with customers and suppliers to resolve technical and quality-related issues

Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience in a Quality, QESH, Quality Engineering, or similar management role within an engineering manufacturing environment
- Strong experience and understanding of machining, inspection, and metrology is essential
- Engineering manufacturing background with the ability to understand technical drawings, specifications, and material certification
- Experience managing and maintaining ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Experience with internal audits, non-conformance management, and continuous improvement activities
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality assurance, and inspection techniques
- Experience carrying out root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Proven people management skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with management, production teams, customers, and suppliers
- Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive approach to improving processes and standards

Desirable
- Experience managing Environmental and Health & Safety activities
- Experience working with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems
- ISO Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification
- IEMA qualification or equivalent environmental certification
- Apprentice-trained Mechanical Engineer
- Experience within subcontract precision engineering, valve, filtration, or defence sectors
