QHSE Compliance Manager
Imperial Recruitment Group are delighted to announce that we are working as an exclusive retained partnership with Made for Trade the UK’s largest and most respected manufacturers of aluminium roof lanterns and bi-folding doors. Due to the continued growth of the business, we are looking to recruit a QHSE Compliance Manager based at the head office in Wynyard on a permanent basis.
LOCATION: Wynyard, plus occasional travel to other sites
SALARY: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum
LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Permanent
ROLE SUMMARY:
The QHSE Compliance Manager is responsible for leading and continuously improving the organisation’s Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental compliance and the systems which manage these requirements.
This includes full ownership of ISO 9001 and the development of a system which is auditable to ISO 45001 and 14001, the management of all internal audits and ensuring strong performance across operational, quality and compliance functions.
The QHSE Compliance Manager provides overall governance and coordination across the organisation, ensuring all teams meet required standards while fostering a culture of safety, consistency and operational excellence.
DUTIES ARE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with HSE and company-specific regulations.
- Lead, maintain and ensure business compliance with the Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
- Development and management of a HSE system which is auditable to ISO 45001 & 14001.
- Oversee internal audit planning, execution, reporting and corrective actions.
- Support the development of ISO Auditors within the business.
- Manage non-conformance systems and ensure effective root cause analysis and close-out.
- Oversee incident and accident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Monitor HSE performance across the business and support improvement initiatives.
- Provide leadership and alignment for the HSE Adviser and QHSE Lead on all activities.
- Support and align with the QC Manager on compliance, standards and controls.
- Ensure consistent application of QHSE standards and processes across all sites, including supporting and mentoring site-based QHSE roles.

Business Requirements
- Implement and ensure the business follows defined processes.
- Ensure that business data is gathered in accordance with documented procedures.
- Review and maintain business records to ensure they are performed correctly and on time.
- Overall responsibility for the Quality, Environmental and Safety Management System at all MFT sites.
- Document non-conformances clearly and accurately, using systems where required.
- Ensure that non-conformance is followed through to completion.
- Carry out and promote root cause analysis and assist in the implementation of controls to prevent re-occurrence.
- Support all business areas on the implementation and ongoing management of the QMS.
- Support the business to achieve Quality, Safety and Environmental objectives.
- Support the NPD in line with QHSE requirements.
- Identify knowledge gaps within QHSE and arrange appropriate training.
- Periodic departmental risk reviews and actions to address.
- Development of HSE to support and promote a safe working culture.
Leadership
- Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for the HSE Adviser and QHSE Lead.
- Present QHSE performance and risks to the Head of Operations and other leaders where applicable.
- Provide functional leadership, guidance and support to the HSE Adviser and QHSE Lead, ensuring alignment to company standards, systems and ways of working.
- Support the development, coaching and capability of site-based QHSE personnel to ensure a consistent and scalable approach across the business.

Continuous Improvement
- Continually improve business processes in line with ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001.
- Assist in the continuous growth of the Quality functions using the team’s knowledge and experience.
- Lead and encourage process improvement teams and ensure control through the QMS.
- Work closely with all areas of the business to implement and control change.
- Lead team meetings as required (management review, safety, problem solving, etc).
- Undertake training as deemed necessary.
Experience & Skills:
- ISO 9001 practitioner with experience of leading and maintaining a Quality Management System.
- ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 practitioner.
- Experience of planning and leading internal audits, non-conformance management and root cause analysis.
- Experience of leading incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Experience of leading, coaching and developing QHSE personnel.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Computer literate.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Logical approach to problem solving.
Desirable
- Experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally construction, fenestration or building products.
- Experience of managing QHSE across multiple sites.
- Experience of developing a management system through to ISO certification.
