Job Description
As a QHSE Engineer, you will support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental processes across project activities. You will work closely with operational teams, project managers, suppliers, and stakeholders to promote compliance, reduce risk, and ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices.
The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a positive safety culture and driving continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Support the implementation and maintenance of Quality Management Systems.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
- Review and monitor project processes to ensure compliance with client, regulatory, and company requirements.
- Assist with non-conformance management, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Support supplier and subcontractor quality surveillance activities.
- Monitor performance indicators and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Health & Safety
- Promote a strong safety culture across project teams.
- Support risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
- Conduct workplace inspections and safety observations.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, ensuring lessons learned are communicated and implemented.
- Assist with emergency preparedness and response activities.
- Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation and industry standards.

Environmental Management
- Support environmental management activities and sustainability objectives.
- Monitor compliance with environmental requirements and procedures.
- Assist in the identification and mitigation of environmental risks.
- Contribute to waste management, pollution prevention, and environmental awareness initiatives.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Produce QHSE reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.
- Analyse trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Facilitate the sharing of lessons learned and best practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Engineering, Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a QHSE, Quality, HSE, or Assurance role within a regulated industry.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Understanding of UK health and safety legislation.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and investigations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in report writing and data analysis.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience within the nuclear, energy, construction, infrastructure, defence, or engineering sectors.
- Internal or Lead Auditor qualification.
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects.
