QHSE Manager – Fire, Air & Asbestos

Location: National – regular UK travel required

Working across HSL Compliance Group’s Fire, Air & Asbestos Division, the QHSE Manager will provide visible, hands-on leadership and ensure the highest standards of quality, health, safety and environmental performance.

You will work closely with operational leaders to build one consistent QHSE approach across the division. Your focus will be on practical compliance, strong assurance, meaningful performance reporting and creating a culture where quality and safety are everyone’s responsibility.

This is a varied and influential role, combining day-to-day operational support with longer-term improvement work. You will also play an important part in mobilising new contracts, integrating acquired businesses and developing the foundations for a scalable, high-performing division, with a clear pathway towards a QHSE Director role.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Champion a positive and practical QHSE culture across the Fire, Air & Asbestos Division, leading by example through visible engagement with operational teams.
  • Coach and support operational leaders, helping them take clear ownership of quality, health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant UK legislation, recognised standards and applicable ISO management systems.
  • Lead internal and external audits, incident investigations, root-cause reviews and corrective actions, making sure lessons are shared and improvements are sustained.
  • Maintain and continually improve divisional QHSE policies, procedures, management systems and safe systems of work.
  • Provide clear, commercially balanced and practical advice to operational colleagues across the division.
  • Support the mobilisation of new contracts, business change projects and the integration of acquired companies into HSL’s QHSE framework.
  • Develop meaningful KPI dashboards and performance reporting that help leaders identify risks, priorities and opportunities for improvement.
  • Use audit findings, investigations and performance data to drive continuous improvement, standardisation and right-first-time delivery.
  • Deliver coaching and training that builds QHSE knowledge, confidence and capability across the division.
  • Represent HSL professionally during customer audits, regulatory inspections and other external reviews.
  • Build trusted working relationships with colleagues, customers, suppliers and regulators.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
