Overview
Provide strategic leadership, governance and continual improvement of the Quality Management System across Dana Birmingham. Ensure sustained compliance with IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, TISAX, customer-specific requirements and corporate standards whilst supporting operational excellence, business growth and customer satisfaction.
Strategic Leadership
Lead the development and deployment of the site quality systems strategy, quality objectives and governance framework. Act as the site subject matter expert for quality system compliance, audit assurance and business process effectiveness.
Quality Systems
Own, maintain and continually improve the Integrated Management System. Ensure robust process control, document management, risk-based thinking, lessons learned deployment and compliance with all customer, regulatory and corporate requirements.
Audit & Compliance
Lead internal, customer, corporate and third-party certification audits. Ensure audit readiness at all times and effective closure of all findings using robust root cause analysis and verification of effectiveness.
Operational Excellence
Drive continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 8D, A3 and DMAIC methodologies. Improve COPQ, FTT, audit performance, customer metrics and process capability.
Customer Focus
Act as the senior quality systems interface for customers, certification bodies and key stakeholders. Support customer confidence through effective communication, governance and performance management.

Responsibilities

Quality Management System Governance
- Maintain compliance with IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, TISAX and customer-specific requirements.
- Lead management review activities and quality system performance reporting.
- Maintain effective control of procedures, standards, policies and quality records.
- Ensure quality objectives are deployed and monitored throughout the organisation.
Audit and Compliance Leadership
- Develop and manage the annual audit programme.
- Lead certification body, customer and corporate audits.
- Verify effective and timely closure of all non-conformances.
- Report compliance status and risks to senior leadership.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead site-wide quality and compliance improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate root cause analysis, corrective action and preventive action activities.
- Drive reductions in COPQ, waste, variation and audit findings.

Customer & Business Performance
- Monitor PPM, IPM, FTT, COPQ, warranty and customer scorecards.
- Support customer escalations and quality performance reviews.
- Promote customer satisfaction and proactive issue prevention.
Risk Management
- Lead quality system and compliance risk assessments.
- Develop mitigation plans and escalation strategies.
- Ensure lessons learned are embedded across the business.
Leadership
- Coach and develop employees in quality systems and auditing.
- Promote accountability, engagement and continuous improvement culture
Base Requirements
Including but not exclusive to:
- Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management or related discipline
- IATF 16949 Lead Auditor qualification
- Proven experience managing Quality Management Systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Expert knowledge of IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, TISAX, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and Control Plans
- Experience leading customer, certification body and corporate audits
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Excellent stakeholder management, leadership and communication skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office capability, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to influence at all organisational levels
