Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a scientific leader with expertise in (Q)SAR modelling and expert knowledge/rule-based prediction systems to join our Global Science Delivery Toxicology team and lead data-driven toxicology decision making at a global scale. Within the role you will own and drive Syngenta's global strategy for (Q)SAR and expert knowledge rule-based systems, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and portfolio priorities across all geographies. As part of your role you will apply deep mechanistic chemistry knowledge to evaluate structural analogues and build scientifically robust, defensible read-across cases and critically review and challenge read-across argumentation, including assessment of structural similarity, metabolic fate, physicochemical properties, and mode of action. You will be the authoritative expert judgement on chemical domain of applicability, structural alerts, and reactivity considerations that underpin analogue selection, while leading, managing and inspiring a globally dispersed team of computational and regulatory toxicologists, providing clear direction, regular performance conversations, and meaningful development opportunities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
