QHSE Champion

Waltham Cross, Herts
Salary: £34,000
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 5 over 7 days
Shift Hours: 20:00 – 05:00
Breaks: 2 x 30-minute breaks

Job Role

Based in Waltham Cross (Food Town), you will support the Health & Safety function across the site and assist with visits and audits at subsidiary locations to support compliance and promote best practice. You will play a key role in ensuring legal compliance while supporting continuous improvement and positively influencing safety behaviours across the Reynolds Food Group.

The role is to champion the QHSE agenda across all of Food Town, ensuring our people work safely to supply safe, quality food to our customers every day. This warehouse-based role carries wide-ranging responsibilities focused on real-time issue identification, risk assessment, categorisation, support and resolution through an inspect-and-correct approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct food quality and food safety inspections, ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
  • Monitor and report product, environmental and vehicle temperatures.
  • Investigate customer complaints and support corrective actions.
  • Carry out hygiene, housekeeping, environmental and SOP compliance audits.
  • Perform warehouse Health & Safety inspections.
  • Coach, train and support teams on QHSE standards and best practices.
  • Act as Fire Marshal and First Aider.
  • Support Health & Safety, Environmental and Food Safety committees.
  • Monitor pest control and site compliance standards.
  • Produce QHSE reports and performance scorecards.
  • Ensure buildings, equipment and services remain safe, compliant and operational.
  • Maintain environmental, food safety, security and hygiene standards across the site.
  • Manage contractor compliance, permits and RAMS requirements.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions.
  • Support visits and audits at subsidiary locations where required.
  • Promote consistent QHSE standards and best practice across the Reynolds Food Group.
  • Ensure the site remains colleague, visitor and audit ready at all times.

  • IOSH qualification.
  • Strong communicator with proven experience in QHSE compliance, auditing, risk assessment, investigations and reporting.
  • Experience of managing multiple priorities and working effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify risks, non-conformances and opportunities for improvement.
  • Confident in coaching, challenging and supporting colleagues to promote positive QHSE behaviours.
