Job Purpose
Working within the Qualifications Team, you will contribute to the accreditation, reaccreditation and quality monitoring of licence to practise and post registration veterinary nursing qualifications. Through the development and implementation of quality monitoring activities, you will provide assurance to the Veterinary Nurse Education Committee (VNEC) that accredited educational institutions (AEIs), Delivery Sites and Training Practices comply with the RCVS Standards Framework for Veterinary Nurse Education and Training and the RCVS Post-Registration Framework for Veterinary Nursing (hereafter referred to as "the Standards"). You will also contribute to the wider work of the department, including the development of guidance, resources and materials to support compliance with the Standards, and the delivery of projects that contribute to the ongoing development of veterinary nurse education and training.
Key Responsibilities
We will need you to…
- Participate in the accreditation and reaccreditation of licence to practise and post registration veterinary nurse qualifications, specifically:
- Liaise with the Qualifications Manager to plan and organise Delivery Site and Training Practice visits as part of the accreditation event, including scheduling visits and developing agendas.
- Undertake Delivery Site and Training Practice visits and prepare reports to support accreditation activities and decision-making.
- Review accreditation applications and supporting evidence to support accreditation panel activities and inform future quality monitoring.
- Attend and contribute to pre-accreditation meetings and accreditation events providing guidance on the interpretation of the Standards.
- Oversee the development of accreditation action plans, ensuring that required actions are clearly linked to the accreditation report and can be readily understood by those responsible for their implementation and review.
- Review evidence submitted by AEIs in response to accreditation actions and conditions, liaise with AEIs regarding progress and additional requirements, and provide updates to VNEC.
- Actively participate in meetings with organisations intending to develop new veterinary nursing qualifications, providing guidance on the Standards and accreditation requirements.

- Plan, and undertake quality monitoring activities of AEIs delivering accredited veterinary nursing programmes leading to a licence to practise and post-registration veterinary nursing qualifications, including:
- In conjunction with the Qualifications Manager, develop quality monitoring activities considering the individual risk rating of each AEI, emerging issues, and other relevant intelligence.
- Undertake quality monitoring activities to assess compliance with the Standards, including the delivery of education and the assessment of Day One Skills, Day One Competences and Professional Behaviours, taking into account the requirements and processes agreed at the accreditation event.
- Review evidence relating to Annual Self-Assessment Reports, programme changes and new Delivery Site approvals, assessing compliance with the Standards and preparing reports where necessary.
- Meet with stakeholders, including students, educators and Training Practice staff, to gather evidence of compliance with the Standards.
- Prepare written reports on quality monitoring activities.
- Devise, agree and monitor action plans in relation to the quality monitoring activities.
- Prepare papers and present reports to VNEC and other committees on the outcomes of quality monitoring and other activities.
- Develop and maintain effective professional relationships with AEIs and other stakeholders.

- Work with relevant teams and VN colleagues to manage review and update policies and procedures ensuring existing processes align with our strategic objectives.
- As a representative of the RCVS, attend and contribute to both professional and public facing events as required.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of veterinary nursing content for the RCVS Academy, and the VN Education publication and collaborate with relevant teams and colleagues to ensure Academy and website content is current, accurate, and engaging.
- Where required support team members leading on the VN vision projects.
- Maintain your continued professional development in respect to veterinary nursing, quality assurance and auditing practices.
- Carry out any other relevant tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Director of Veterinary Nursing.

Essential Qualifications
- Registered veterinary nurse.
- Educated to degree level or hold (or be working towards) Level 6 or 7 qualifications/modules.
- Hold, or be willing to work towards, a recognised quality assurance qualification(s).
Essential skills, knowledge & experience
- Familiarity with the principles of professional regulation.
- Knowledge and experience of regulatory frameworks and implementing quality monitoring systems.
- Knowledge and experience of RCVS Standards Framework for Veterinary Nurse Education and Training and the RCVS Post-Registration Framework for Veterinary Nursing.
- Experience of delivering or quality assuring relevant qualifications.
- Familiarity with the work and policies of further and higher education related to national agencies/government bodies. For example, Office for Students (OfS), the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (OfQual) and Skills England.
- Good professional standing.
Desired skills & experience
- Hold an advanced veterinary nurse qualification
- Experience of working within a professional regulatory body, awarding organisation, and/or higher educational environment.
- Experience in maintaining risk registers.
- Experience of curriculum development.
- Experience of assessment design and delivery
The role involves undertaking quality monitoring across a range of organisations. The successful candidate must be able to carry out these activities without any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest. Any conflicts will be explored and assessed during the recruitment process
Central London based, with remote working options negotiable. Must be prepared to come into the office a minimum of 2 days a month for meetings and to fulfil some functions of the role
