Company Description

A.D. Pottie & Co Ltd is an established accounting firm. We are looking for a Qualified Accountant to join the Oxford office of our growing and friendly accountancy practice, situated on the outskirts of Wheatley to the east of the city. The role can be full or part time (Minimum hours 30 per week)

This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant looking for a varied role within a supportive firm, working closely with a diverse portfolio of clients. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide both compliance and advisory services, build strong client relationships and play an important role in the continued growth of the practice. The role would suit an experienced Accountant or Accounts Senior looking to progress their career within a client-focused accountancy firm.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses and SME clients.
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and management accounts.
  • Overseeing VAT returns and wider tax compliance requirements.
  • Providing proactive accounting and tax advice to clients.
  • Supporting clients with tax planning, business planning and financial reporting.
  • Building and maintaining strong long-term client relationships.
  • Identifying opportunities to add value through advisory services.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an excellent client service.

Requirements

  • ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and tax compliance.
  • Experience managing client relationships and delivering a high-quality service.
  • Excellent communication skills with a commercial and client-focused approach.
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software including Sage, Xero, QuickBooks and Excel.
  • Be proactive, organised and professional.
