QUALIFIED CARE HOME MANAGER
LOCATION: Lanarkshire
SALARY: Up to £70,000
Compass Associates are pleased to be supporting an established care provider with the appointment of a Care Home Manager for a large elderly care service in Lanarkshire. This is an opportunity for an accomplished care leader to take responsibility for a sizeable service and make a genuine impact across resident experience, team performance and the wider running of the home. The organisation has a long-term focus on developing its services and investing in its people. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to lead confidently, whilst benefiting from a wider operational structure and ongoing development opportunities.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a broad leadership position covering the full spectrum of care home management. You will set the tone for the service, ensuring residents receive individualised care while creating a workplace where staff understand what is expected of them and have the support to deliver it. Particular areas of focus will include:
- Setting the overall direction and standards for a large multidisciplinary team
- Ensuring care planning and delivery consistently reflects residents' individual preferences and needs
- Building strong relationships with residents, relatives and the wider professional network
- Developing managers and senior colleagues to create a capable and accountable leadership structure
- Maintaining effective safeguarding, risk management and quality assurance arrangements
- Identifying opportunities to improve practice, systems and resident outcomes
- Ensuring teams are appropriately supported, supervised and developed
- Promoting an inclusive environment where staff are encouraged to contribute ideas and challenge constructively
- Working with internal and external partners to support the continued development of the service
- Developing future leaders through effective talent management and succession planning

THE PERSON
We are looking for an established care home leader who is comfortable operating within a larger and more complex service. You are likely to have:
- Proven experience managing an elderly care home or similarly substantial care service
- A track record of leading large teams and developing management capability
- Strong knowledge of quality, safeguarding and person-centred care
- The confidence to make decisions, provide direction and manage competing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships at every level
- A genuine interest in coaching, mentoring and developing people
- The resilience to manage change while maintaining stability and staff engagement
- A proactive approach to identifying and delivering service improvements

CANDIDATE SUITABILITY NOTE
This role is suited to an experienced Care Home Manager with the leadership capability required to oversee a large and complex elderly care environment. Candidates should be able to demonstrate substantial people-management experience alongside a strong understanding of quality, safeguarding and operational delivery.
