Role Description

The Qualified Early Years Leader is responsible for overseeing the planning and delivery of safe, age-appropriate activities for younger children at our Hitchin camp. This contract, on-site role includes leading daily sessions, managing routines, and ensuring a nurturing, inclusive environment that supports each child’s well-being and development. The role involves supervising early years staff, maintaining clear communication with parents and carers, and adhering to Ofsted, safeguarding and health and safety standards. The Qualified Early Years Leader will also complete necessary documentation, support behaviour management, and contribute to continuous improvement of camp programmes and practices.

Qualifications

• Relevant early years qualification (e.g., Level 3 or above in Early Years Education, Childcare, or equivalent) and strong knowledge of EYFS framework.
• Proven experience leading early years groups in childcare, education, or holiday camp settings, with the ability to plan and deliver engaging activities.
• Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and health and safety, including understanding of Ofsted standards and Safer Recruitment principles.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and colleagues.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills, including staff supervision, time management, and the ability to respond calmly to changing situations.
• Flexibility to work during school holiday periods on a contract basis and willingness to be present on-site at the Hitchin location.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and eligibility to work in the UK.
