Job Title: Qualified Fire Extinguisher Engineer (Servicing, Replacements & Installations)
Location:
Field-based (Covering London, Surrey, Kent, and the South Coast. Ideal engineer location: South London or Surrey).
Position:
Full-time, Permanent
Hours:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary:
£26,436.80 – £30,000 basic (depending on experience) + uncapped bonus (up to £10,000 per year) + overtime

At SAFE I.S., we are seeking an experienced, proactive Fire Extinguisher Engineer to manage a comprehensive remit across London and the South East. This is a varied, hands-on role covering annual servicing, remedial replacements, and complete new system installations across commercial, residential, and public sector properties.

The Role & Daily Responsibilities
Routine Servicing & Maintenance:
- Carry out thorough inspections and basic/extended servicing in full accordance with BS 5306-3.
Replacements & Remedials:
- Identify condemned or discharge-tested units, providing fast, neat replacements to keep clients fully compliant.
New Installations & Fitting:
- Install and commission brand-new equipment across diverse premises. This includes neat wall-mounting, setting up stands and plinths, and fitting appropriate fire safety signage and ID points.
Surveying & Siting:
- Assess client layouts to ensure all units are correctly selected, rated, and positioned according to fire risk classes under BS 5306-8.
Electronic Reporting & Compliance:
- Use our tablet-based electronic report sheet system to record work, log asset registers, and generate certifications. Submitting accurate sheets in real time and on schedule is crucial to ensuring prompt delivery of reports and quotes to our clients.

What We Are Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Practical Skills:
Certification:
- Successful completion of the FIA 4-Day Servicing & Maintenance of Portable Fire Extinguishers course (or current BAFE Registration / BS 5306 Parts 3 & 8 qualification).
Installation & Remedial Skills:
- Practical confidence using hand/power tools for neat, secure wall-mounting (on various substrates like plasterboard, brick, and blockwork) and installing compliant signage and stands.
Standards Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of BS 5306 guidelines for selecting, siting, and positioning extinguishers based on fire risks.
Tech Savvy & Reporting Discipline:
- Comfortable using an electronic report sheet system on a mobile device/tablet, with the discipline to complete and submit detailed sheets accurately and on time at each job.

Driving Licence:
- Full, clean UK Driving Licence with the confidence to drive in congested city and urban routes across London and the South East.
Customer & Commercial Focus:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport, explain compliance clearly to clients, and spot on-site opportunities for upgrades or additional safety measures.
