Role Description
This role for a Maths Tutor is a hybrid position based in the London/Essex Area, United Kingdom, with a mix of in-person sessions and some work from home. The Maths Tutor will deliver one-to-one and small group lessons, helping learners understand core mathematical concepts and strengthen problem-solving skills. Day-to-day tasks include using mastery methods, preparing learning materials, explaining topics such as algebra in clear terms, and adapting teaching methods to different learning styles and working with students of all backgrounds. The tutor will provide regular feedback on learner progress, support homework and exam preparation, and use online platforms for virtual tutoring sessions when required. The role also involves maintaining accurate records of sessions, communicating with learners and, where appropriate, parents or guardians, and collaborating with the team to improve tutoring methods.

- Strong knowledge of Mathematics, including core topics and Algebra, and the ability to explain concepts clearly.
- Experience or interest in Tutoring and Online Tutoring, with the ability to engage learners in both in-person and virtual settings.
- Effective Communication skills, including active listening, clear verbal and written communication, and the ability to build rapport with diverse learners.
- Ability to organise lessons, manage time, and use basic educational or video conferencing tools (e.g., online whiteboards, presentation software).
- Relevant academic background in Mathematics, Education, or a related field; current students or recent graduates are welcome.
- Commitment to inclusive, learner-centered teaching, reliability in attendance, and a professional approach to confidentiality and safeguarding.
