About The Role

Job Title: Quality Advisor – Civils & Structures

Location: Peterhead – Netherton Hub

Company: Balfour Beatty – Energy

Project: ASTI

Build quality into one of Scotland’s major infrastructure programmes.

Balfour Beatty is looking for an experienced Quality Advisor with a background in civil engineering, structures or major construction projects to join our Energy business in Peterhead, supporting delivery of the ASTI programme.

This is a great opportunity for someone who understands how quality works on a live construction project and enjoys working closely with operational teams to make sure work is delivered Right First Time.

You’ll be based at our Netherton Hub in Peterhead, working alongside project managers, engineers, construction teams and our supply chain to maintain high standards of quality, compliance and project performance.

If you have worked within civils, structural concrete, infrastructure, energy or a similar major construction environment, we’d like to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

As Quality Advisor, you'll support the project team in embedding a strong quality culture across the ASTI programme.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Supporting the development and implementation of Project Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and other project-specific quality documentation.
  • Working closely with construction, engineering and project teams to ensure works comply with Balfour Beatty and contract requirements.
  • Promoting a Right First Time approach and helping reduce defects, rework and the Cost of Poor Quality.
  • Reviewing and challenging existing processes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and best practice.
  • Providing practical quality advice and guidance to project teams.
  • Planning, completing and reporting on internal and supplier audits.
  • Supporting investigations and undertaking root cause analysis where quality issues occur.
  • Working with the supply chain to ensure required standards and processes are understood and maintained.
  • Supporting quality improvement initiatives across the project.
  • Producing clear quality reports, trends and management information.
  • Supporting external accreditation requirements including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Maintaining a relentless focus on Zero Harm, quality and sustainable project delivery.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for someone who understands construction and can work collaboratively with project teams rather than simply policing a process.

You'll Ideally Have

  • Previous experience in a Quality Advisor, Quality Engineer, Quality Inspector or similar quality-focused role within construction.
  • Strong experience within civil engineering and/or structures.
  • Experience of working on major infrastructure, energy, utilities, highways or complex construction projects would be beneficial.
  • A good understanding of Quality Management and Quality Control within a construction environment.
  • Experience working with ITPs, quality plans, inspections, audits, NCRs and quality documentation.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and internal auditing.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with site teams, engineers, project managers and supply-chain partners.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate issues and identify root causes.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to see actions through to completion.
  • The confidence to challenge constructively and help teams continuously improve.
  • CQI Practitioner status or a willingness to work towards it.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Forma would also be advantageous.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
