We are sourcing a Quality Advisor on a full-time, permanent basis. Based at our facility in Great Yarmouth, the Quality Advisor is responsible for ensuring quality is effectively monitored, measured, and managed across the business, supporting the delivery of products and services that consistently meet customer, contractual, regulatory, and company requirements. Working closely with Project Engineers, Operations, Supply Chain, QA/QC Inspectors, and suppliers, the role provides competent quality advice and operational support throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring quality requirements are clearly defined, effectively implemented, and independently verified.
Duties & Main Responsibilities
Project Quality Assurance
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the Claxton Project Management Procedure, Integrated Management System (IMS), contractual requirements, and applicable customer quality requirements.
- Support the development, review, implementation, and assurance of Project Quality Plans and Quality Inspection and Test Plans (QITPs), ensuring appropriate stages, acceptance criteria, hold/witness points, and customer notification requirements are identified and effectively implemented.
- Review manufacturing documentation, certification requirements, and project quality deliverables to verify appropriate quality controls have been established.
- Undertake quality surveillance and periodic assurance checks throughout project execution to verify agreed procedures, processes, and quality controls are being effectively applied.
Non-Conformance and Corrective Action Management
- Lead or support the investigation and management of Customer, Internal, and Supplier Non-Conformances (NCRs), ensuring timely resolution and effective closure.
- Facilitate Root Cause Analysis and ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions are identified, implemented, verified, and recorded within the QHSE management system.
- Monitor and analyze Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), NCR trends, and quality performance data to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
- Verify the effectiveness of corrective actions and challenge actions that do not adequately address identified root causes.
- Provide regular reports on NCR performance, trends, recurring issues, and lessons learned to support continual improvement and management decision-making.

Supplier Quality Assurance
- Work with Supply Chain to ensure supplier quality requirements are clearly defined, understood, and communicated.
- Provide quality assurance oversight of supplier performance, certification, and project deliverables where required.
- Support Supply Chain with supplier assessments and vendor audits, participating where technical manufacturing, specification, or quality requirements require additional assurance.
- Review supplier quality performance and identify risks arising from manufacturing processes, materials, certification, documentation, or supplier performance.
- Develop effective working relationships with suppliers, customers, third-party inspection organizations, and internal stakeholders to support successful delivery of quality objectives.
Business Quality Support and Compliance
- Provide competent quality advice and support to departments on customer requirements, specifications, quality management processes, and company procedures.
- Support the preparation and review of customer quality documentation, including tender responses, customer questionnaires, design reviews, Quality Plans, and project quality deliverables.
- Assist operational and project teams with the interpretation and application of customer specifications, engineering standards, and quality requirements.
- Provide guidance on the interpretation and application of ISO 9001, API Q1/Q2, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
- Monitor compliance with the Integrated Management System and promote consistent application of quality processes and procedures across the business.
- Monitor changes to applicable quality standards and customer requirements and support the business in ensuring processes remain compliant.
Audit Management
- Plan, coordinate, and host customer, supplier, and management system certification audits.
- Conduct internal quality audits in accordance with the established audit programme.
- Record audit findings and monitor resulting corrective actions through to effective completion.
- Support Supply Chain with vendor audits where technical manufacturing, specification, or quality requirements require additional assurance.
- Support local management system certification audits, including preparation, hosting, and coordination of responses with relevant site and global personnel.
Quality Control Assurance
- Provide quality assurance oversight of inspection, verification, calibration, certification, and product control processes through audit, surveillance, and quality performance review.
- Liaise with the QC Inspector, Project Engineers, and Operations to ensure inspection and verification activities are aligned with approved QITPs and applicable customer and project requirements.
- Undertake independent quality surveillance or verification where additional assurance is required, without assuming routine QC inspection responsibilities.
- Review inspection and quality records where necessary to provide assurance that required controls have been effectively implemented and documented.

Quality Documentation and Records
- Support the development, review, and effective implementation of Quality Plans, QITPs, and associated quality documentation.
- Support QA data pack and Manufacturing Record Book (MRB) preparation processes to ensure customer, project, and business requirements are met.
- Review quality documentation and certification for completeness and compliance where assurance or escalation is required.
Management of Change and Quality Risk
- Support the Management of Change (MoC) process where quality, customer, certification, or regulatory requirements may be affected.
- Ensure quality-related changes are appropriately assessed, implemented, and communicated, including customer notification or approval where required.
- Identify emerging quality risks through project surveillance, NCR analysis, audits, supplier performance, operational feedback, and quality performance data.
- Escalate significant or systemic quality risks to the QHSE Manager and relevant business leadership.
Quality Reporting and Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and analyze quality performance data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Report quality performance, NCR trends, COPQ, audit findings, project quality risks, and improvement activities to the QHSE Manager and Leadership Team as required.
- Lead or support assigned quality improvement initiatives using recognized quality improvement and problem-solving methodologies.
- Work collaboratively with other Claxton QHSE personnel and business locations to share lessons learned, standardize good practice, and improve quality performance across the organization.
- Use quality data and operational feedback to identify opportunities to reduce non-conformance, improve process effectiveness, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Essential
- Experience working within engineering, manufacturing, or oil and gas environments.
- Good understanding of ISO 9001 and quality management principles.
- Experience managing non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Experience conducting internal and customer audits.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Knowledge of equipment certification and manufacturing documentation.
- Ability to analyze quality data and identify improvement opportunities.
- Excellent communication skills with confidence to influence operational teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to the wider QHSE team.
Desirable
- ISO 9001 Internal or Lead Auditor qualification.
- Knowledge of API Q1 and/or API Q2.
- Experience within offshore engineering, manufacturing, or energy sectors.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques.
