QA Engineer - VR / Gaming
Location: Remote, UK Based
Contract: 6 months
Hours: 40 hours per week
We’re looking for an experienced QA Engineer to join a high-profile technology team working on a large-scale social VR and gaming application. This is an exciting opportunity to work across VR, mobile, and desktop platforms, helping ensure weekly releases remain stable and reliable.
You’ll take ownership of quality across a mature Unity-based application, working closely with engineers and release teams to test builds, verify fixes, and identify regressions before they reach users.
Key Responsibilities
- Run smoke and regression testing on nightly, stable, and release-candidate builds.
- Provide clear go/no-go feedback ahead of releases.
- Verify critical fixes across clone builds and release branches.
- Test core user journeys including avatars, voice, social features, multiplayer, and movement between worlds.
- Reproduce crashes, hangs, ANRs, memory issues, and performance regressions.
- Produce clear, actionable bug reports with accurate reproduction steps, logs, and supporting evidence.
- Test across native VR, mobile, and cloud-streamed desktop/mobile environments.
- Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and release checklists.
- Support bug triage by validating, deduplicating, and assessing incoming issues.
- Identify repetitive manual testing that could be automated and contribute to automation where practical.
Essential Requirements
- 5+ years of professional QA experience within gaming, VR/AR, or large-scale consumer applications.
- Hands-on experience testing Android/mobile devices, including sideloading builds.
- Experience capturing and analyzing device logs using ADB / Logcat.
- Proven experience running regression and release testing against fixed release schedules.
- Strong bug-reporting skills with clear, reproducible steps and supporting evidence.
- Experience creating and maintaining test plans and test cases.
- Experience reproducing crashes, stability, and performance issues.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate technical risk.
- VR application testing, ideally with VR headsets.
- Unity testing and familiarity with Unity logs.
- Cloud game/application streaming.
- Performance and memory profiling tools such as OVR Metrics Tool, Perfetto, or Unity Profiler.
- Scripting or test automation using Python or Unity Test Framework.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
