Senior Quality & Compliance Manager

Permanent | Full-time

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced quality and technical leader to join a forward-thinking fresh produce business, taking ownership of quality, food safety, compliance, and product management functions.

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping quality strategy, driving continuous improvement, and embedding a culture where food safety, compliance, and customer expectations sit at the heart of every decision. You'll lead and develop high-performing teams while ensuring the business consistently delivers against customer, certification, and regulatory requirements.

Working cross-functionally with operations, commercial, and customer-facing teams, you'll provide strategic leadership across quality management systems, risk management, audits, certifications, and product performance, helping to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Quality & Compliance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, developing, and coaching Quality and Product Management teams to drive engagement, accountability, and high performance
  • Creating a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and customer focus throughout the operation
  • Developing and delivering the site's Quality and Compliance Strategy, aligned with wider business objectives
  • Providing strategic leadership for food safety, quality standards, compliance performance, and customer satisfaction
  • Ensuring quality management systems remain effective, efficient, and aligned with customer, legal, and certification requirements
  • Maintaining oversight of HACCP, TACCP, traceability, pest control, hygiene, and wider food safety management systems
  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating technical and compliance risks across the business
  • Leading governance activities and ensuring corrective and preventative actions are effectively delivered
  • Maintaining industry-leading audit standards and supporting the successful delivery of customer and third-party audits
  • Driving and maintaining BRCGS certification standards and organic certification compliance
  • Leading the investigation and resolution of significant customer complaints, quality concerns, and compliance issues
  • Developing and monitoring quality KPI's, trends, and business performance measures
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product consistency, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and waste reduction
  • Providing leadership and strategic oversight to Product Management functions, ensuring specifications and customer requirements are consistently achieved
  • Using data and performance insight to support decision-making and identify areas for improvement
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, auditors, and certification bodies
  • Championing the highest standards of food safety, health and safety, sustainability, and environmental responsibility across the site

We're looking for a passionate and commercially aware quality leader who can combine strong technical expertise with proven people management skills. You'll be comfortable influencing stakeholders across the business and creating a culture where quality is everyone's responsibility.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Significant leadership experience within a Technical, Quality, or Compliance function within the food or fresh produce sector
  • A strong understanding of food safety legislation, retailer requirements, and industry best practice
  • Proven experience managing BRCGS audits and maintaining certification standards
  • Excellent knowledge of HACCP, TACCP, traceability, allergen management, hygiene, and risk management systems
  • Experience leading customer audits, third-party audits, and certification audits
  • A track record of delivering continuous improvement projects and driving operational excellence
  • Strong leadership skills with experience coaching, developing, and motivating high-performing teams
  • The ability to analyse quality data and performance trends to drive informed business decisions
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive, strategic mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction
  • Experience working within a fast-paced food manufacturing, packing, or fresh produce environment
