Exciting Opportunity for an Experienced Midwife
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Midwife to join our Maternity leadership team as the Quality and Governance Matron. This role is available with an on-site or hybrid pattern, and we are open to conversations about flexibility with working hours.
About the Role
You will lead, coordinate, and advise on all aspects of clinical quality, risk management, and governance processes across maternity services. You will be an integral part of the maternity leadership team ensuring we are embedding learning from incidents and patient feedback within the service as we continue our progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coordinate, and advise on all aspects of clinical quality, risk management, and governance processes in Maternity services.
- Review, define, scope, plan, manage, and deliver activities associated with the quality agenda for Maternity and Midwifery services.
- Establish clear outcome measures to ensure systems and processes meet local and national standards and policy.
- Lead on key initiatives such as NHS Resolution Maternity Safety Actions (CNST).
- Lead investigations into serious incidents and potential litigation cases, ensuring timely investigations and preparation of preliminary reports.
- Implement, monitor, and develop the maternity clinical risk management strategy in line with the Trust’s clinical risk management strategy.
- Lead the Maternity Risk and Governance team and provide leadership and support for healthcare governance activities within maternity services.

About You
The post holder will be an excellent, visible midwifery leader and credible role model with expert clinical knowledge and experience and a sound understanding of governance processes. The post holder will be instrumental in monitoring performance and delivering excellence in clinical care.
