Summary
Mec-Com are looking to recruit an enthusiastic apprentice to join their team. You will assist experienced quality engineers with the inspection and testing of materials, planning and executing projects and work closely with engineers to understand manufacturing processes and equipment.

- Course: Engineering and manufacturing support technician (level 3)
- Hours: Monday - Thursday, 7.00am - 5:15pm. 39 hours a week
- Start date: Monday 12 October 2026
- Duration: 3 years

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Quality Control: Assist in inspecting and testing materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards. Collaborate with the quality team to identify and address product defects, deviations, and non-conformities. Learn and implement quality control procedures to maintain and improve product quality.
- Project Management: Support project managers in planning, executing, and closing projects within established timelines and budgets. Assist in coordinating project activities, ensuring effective communication among team members and stakeholders. Learn project management tools and methodologies to contribute to project success.
- Engineering: Work closely with the engineering team to understand manufacturing processes and equipment. Participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities related to equipment and process issues. Gain hands-on experience in implementing engineering solutions for process improvement.

Training

Course contents

- Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance.
- Comply with engineering standards and regulations.
- Analyse engineering and manufacturing data and information to support technical outputs.
- Apply scientific, technical, or engineering principles.
- Apply problem-solving techniques to solutions for identified technical problems.
- Organise, plan, and prioritise workflow and scheduling of work with stakeholders.
- Identify, organise, and use resources to complete tasks, considering cost, quality, safety, security, and environmental impact.
- Produce job-specific technical outputs.
- Provide support and guidance for handover of work to stakeholders.
- Record information.
- Follow standard operating procedures.
- Follow manufacturer's instructions.
- Apply quality assurance and control principles and practices.
- Apply continuous improvement techniques.
- Apply team working principles.
- Communicate in writing.
- Communicate with others verbally.

Requirements
- Essential qualifications: GCSE in: Maths and English (grade 9-5)
- Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience.
- Skills: Communication skills, Organisation skills, Logical, Team working, Initiative, Interest in Engineering, Willingness to learn.
- Other requirements: The right apprentice must be able to demonstrate an interest in engineering and willingness to learn. Please ensure the commute is researched thoroughly due to lack of public transport routes near the company.
