About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Quality Improvement and Safety Team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Quality and Safety Specialist to join our team. This role is open to a registered healthcare professional with a passion for quality improvement, patient safety, and delivering excellence in care. As a key member of the Trust's Quality and Safety Team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and developing an organisation-wide approach to continuous improvement, helping to drive improvements in patient outcomes, safety, and service quality across the Trust.

Main Duties

The primary focus of this role is to support and empower the clinical workforce, working closely with front-line Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional teams to continually evaluate and improve the quality of care delivered to patients. Using evidence-based improvement methodologies, the post holder will lead and support initiatives that drive sustainable improvements in patient outcomes, safety and experience.

A key aspect of the role will be the development, implementation and maintenance of quality improvement programmes focused on areas such as pressure ulcer prevention, reducing patient falls, improving nutrition and hydration, enhancing patient experience, and strengthening clinical effectiveness.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated registered Nurse, Midwife or Allied Health Professional with experience of quality improvement within an acute and/or community healthcare setting. The successful candidate will be passionate about patient safety and continuous improvement, with the ability to inspire and support others to deliver high-quality care. Comprehensive support, education and training will be provided to facilitate ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

Essential person specification requirements

  • Registration with the appropriate professional body (NMC/HCPC)
  • First degree in health-related subject or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Experience

  • Knowledge and experience in undertaking systematic approaches to quality improvements
  • Good keyboard and computer skills with ability to use a variety of methods to interrogate both quantitative and qualitative complex information and present this information in a meaningful way
  • Experience of working with groups
  • Professional report writing
  • Experience of delivering education programmes to colleagues

Knowledge And Awareness

  • Understanding of the national and local Quality and Patient Safety strategies/guidelines
  • Awareness of own limitations.
  • Knowledge of how to maintain confidentiality
