Quality Apprentice

Job Purpose

The Quality Apprentice will support the Quality team in maintaining and improving quality standards across the organisation. Working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification, the postholder will gain practical experience in quality assurance, compliance, auditing, continuous improvement, and problem-solving while contributing to the delivery of high-quality products, services, and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining quality management systems and processes.
  • Support quality inspections, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Collect, analyse, and report quality-related data and performance metrics.
  • Help investigate quality issues, non-conformities, customer complaints, and process failures.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate quality records, documentation, and reports.
  • Support the development and review of quality procedures and work instructions.
  • Assist with internal and external audit preparation.
  • Support in controlling non-conforming items & materials
  • Contribute to corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to promote a culture of quality and compliance.
  • Attend training sessions and complete apprenticeship coursework and assessments.
  • Adhere to company policies, health and safety requirements, and regulatory standards.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics (Grade 4/C or above).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Desirable

  • Interest in quality management, manufacturing, engineering, compliance, or continuous improvement.
  • Previous work experience, work placement, or project work demonstrating attention to detail.
  • Awareness of quality standards such as ISO 9001 & IATF 16949

Apprenticeship Requirements

  • Enrol and actively participate in a recognised Quality Practitioner, Improvement Practitioner, or related apprenticeship programme.
  • Complete all required training, assignments, and assessments within agreed timescales.
  • Apply learning from the apprenticeship programme to workplace activities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Successful completion of apprenticeship milestones.
  • Accuracy and quality of documentation and reporting.
  • Participation in quality improvement projects.
  • Timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Positive feedback from colleagues, customers, and training providers.
