QE Architect – Technology Transformation

York – 3 days on-site per week

£400 per day

12-month contract

Inside IR35

We’re looking for an experienced QE Architect to lead Quality Engineering strategy and architecture across a large-scale Technology Transformation portfolio.

The role:

  • Define and govern enterprise-wide QE architecture and strategy
  • Drive automation-first, continuous testing and shift-left practices
  • Design and scale automation frameworks across UI, API, Data, Integration, AI and Non-Functional testing
  • Establish quality standards, governance, quality gates and release assurance
  • Lead the adoption of AI-assisted and Agentic Testing
  • Work across platforms including D365, Power Platform, GCP, Power BI, Azure APIM and APIs
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to QE Leads, SDETs and Automation Engineers
  • Build reusable QE frameworks, standards and accelerators

Key technical experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, Python, PyTest and SQL
  • Enterprise automation frameworks
  • Playwright, BrowserStack, Applitools
  • API testing with tools such as RestAssured, Postman/Newman or RESTSharp
  • Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, Jira/Xray
  • Performance, accessibility and security testing
  • Cloud, APIs, enterprise integration and data platform testing
  • AI-assisted testing tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude

Experience required:

  • 12+ years in Quality Engineering, Software Engineering or Test Automation
  • 5+ years at QE Architect, Principal QE or Enterprise QE Lead level
  • Experience designing and scaling enterprise automation frameworks
  • Strong Agile, Product-led and DevOps experience
  • Experience with TDD, BDD and Continuous Testing
  • Financial Services, Insurance or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous
