QE Architect – Technology Transformation
York – 3 days on-site per week
£400 per day
12-month contract
Inside IR35
We’re looking for an experienced QE Architect to lead Quality Engineering strategy and architecture across a large-scale Technology Transformation portfolio.
The role:
- Define and govern enterprise-wide QE architecture and strategy
- Drive automation-first, continuous testing and shift-left practices
- Design and scale automation frameworks across UI, API, Data, Integration, AI and Non-Functional testing
- Establish quality standards, governance, quality gates and release assurance
- Lead the adoption of AI-assisted and Agentic Testing
- Work across platforms including D365, Power Platform, GCP, Power BI, Azure APIM and APIs
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to QE Leads, SDETs and Automation Engineers
- Build reusable QE frameworks, standards and accelerators

Key technical experience:
- Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, Python, PyTest and SQL
- Enterprise automation frameworks
- Playwright, BrowserStack, Applitools
- API testing with tools such as RestAssured, Postman/Newman or RESTSharp
- Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, Jira/Xray
- Performance, accessibility and security testing
- Cloud, APIs, enterprise integration and data platform testing
- AI-assisted testing tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude

Experience required:
- 12+ years in Quality Engineering, Software Engineering or Test Automation
- 5+ years at QE Architect, Principal QE or Enterprise QE Lead level
- Experience designing and scaling enterprise automation frameworks
- Strong Agile, Product-led and DevOps experience
- Experience with TDD, BDD and Continuous Testing
- Financial Services, Insurance or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous
