Who We Are
James Hallam is an established and respected independent insurance broker, providing specialist advice and tailored insurance solutions to business and individuals across the UK. We pride ourselves on long-term client relationships, technical expertise, commitment to delivering high quality, personal service, and our culture.
Role Overview
As a Quality Assurance Assistant, you would be responsible for reviewing client files to assess the quality, suitability, and documentation of the advice provided to clients along with ensuring company procedures are being followed. The focus of this role will be reviewing commercial insurance placements for SMEs and Corporate businesses. This is a full-time role reporting to the Internal Audit Manager and working as part of an established quality assurance team.
Quality assurance or compliance experience is not required; however, commercial broking knowledge is essential. This role would suit someone with hands-on commercial insurance broking, account handling, or client servicing experience who enjoys the technical side of insurance and is looking for their first step into a quality assurance, audit, or compliance-focused role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
