QA Automation Engineer
Location: Glasgow
Duration: Until 31/12/2026
Pay Rate: £313 per day all inc. (PAYE through Umbrella)
Days on site: 2-3 days onsite/week
Sector: Banking
Role Description
Seeking a seasoned QA Engineer with strong automation and manual testing expertise to deliver high-quality software through robust test automation, comprehensive validation, and close collaboration with development and product teams.
Must Have
- 6+ years of demonstrable QA experience with strong automation and manual testing expertise in enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with UI automation (Selenium, Playwright, or equivalent) and API testing/automation (REST/SOAP).
- Experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks and test suites.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and test automation integration (preferably Jenkins).
- Proficiency with Git and version control practices.
- Strong debugging, log analysis, and SQL/data validation skills.
- Experience executing functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, working with global teams.

Good to Have
- Mobile testing/automation using Appium (Android/iOS).
- Experience with cloud-based test execution platforms.
- Exposure to performance/load testing.
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices, or OMS platforms.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for UI, API, and end-to-end testing.
- Execute manual, exploratory, functional, integration, and regression testing.
- Validate business workflows across web applications, backend services, and APIs.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA team members to ensure high-quality releases.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and document defects; perform root-cause analysis and validation of fixes.
- Contribute to automation framework enhancements and increased test coverage.
- Support automation execution within CI/CD pipelines and release validation processes.
- Track test results, quality metrics, and provide clear status updates during delivery cycles.
- Participate in test planning, requirement reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
