Quality Assurance Automation Engineer
Financial Services | Test Automation | Hybrid Working
We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Automation Engineer to join a specialist Automation team supporting technology delivery across a large, highly regulated financial services environment.
This is a hands-on engineering role with broader responsibility for automation frameworks, strategy, standards, and adoption. You will work across multiple delivery and testing teams, helping establish scalable automation capabilities while improving engineering quality and accelerating delivery.
The Role
As part of the Test Automation team, you will provide automation expertise across the wider technology organisation.
You will be responsible for designing and maintaining automation frameworks, supporting delivery teams with their automation requirements, and helping shape the wider Test Automation strategy and roadmap.
The role combines hands-on engineering with stakeholder engagement, technical leadership, and continuous improvement.

- Own, design, and develop Test Automation Frameworks and supporting artefacts.
- Build and maintain reusable automation services, standards, and best practices.
- Work with delivery and testing teams to identify opportunities where automation can improve quality, efficiency, and delivery.
- Support teams adopting automation frameworks and develop automation capability across the testing community.
- Contribute to and help shape the Test Automation strategy, vision, and roadmap.
- Support automation pilots, capture lessons learned, and scale successful approaches.
- Manage automation-related priorities, capacity, investment, delivery plans, benefits, and metrics.
- Collaborate with technology teams, testing functions, and external partners across multiple locations.
- Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities to introduce new tooling and engineering practices.
- Ensure automation approaches align with wider technology and group-level initiatives.

You will also have:
- Proven experience building test automation frameworks from scratch.
- Strong knowledge of BDD and TDD approaches.
- Experience developing automation and tooling strategies.
- Strong understanding of testing phases, methodologies, and testing types.
- Experience working across multiple technologies, platforms, and environments, including mainframe and distributed environments.
- Experience working with geographically distributed and offshore engineering teams.
Desirable Experience
