About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team in Barrow-In-Furness or Sheffield, with a hybrid working arrangement. This role involves overseeing quality assurance activities across complex defense projects, supporting the development, manufacturing, and delivery of high-precision weapon systems and defense products. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving quality excellence throughout the full product lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, project teams, and manufacturing units across multiple sites, including occasional travel within the UK and overseas to locations such as India and the USA. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth, leadership development, and exposure to strategic quality management activities within a high-impact environment.

Qualifications
- Qualified to HNC, HND, Degree level, or equivalent practical experience in a quality-focused environment
- Proven experience in supporting compliance, audits, and continuous improvement activities
- Robust supplier audit experience; formal audit qualification is desirable
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001 quality standards and requirements
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP for quality data management and reporting
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma methodologies, and risk mitigation techniques
- Ability to mentor and support colleagues in quality practices
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate quality activities across the full product lifecycle, ensuring adherence to quality policies, standards, and procedures
- Conduct supplier audits, evaluate supplier performance, and support risk mitigation strategies
- Oversee investigations into non-conformance issues, lead root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventative actions
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to foster a proactive quality culture within teams and suppliers
- Maintain accurate quality documentation, records, and reports within business systems to ensure compliance and traceability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify quality risks and develop mitigation plans
- Participate in project reviews, audits, and assessments to ensure quality standards are met
- Support the development and implementation of quality management systems and procedures
- Assist in training and mentoring colleagues on quality best practices and standards
