QA Engineer (Mid-Level)

Remote, UK based · Permanent, full time · Commercial lines insurance software

The role

A software vendor serving MGAs, coverholders and carriers in the Lloyd's and London market is hiring a mid-level QA Engineer. Their platform handles quote, bind and policy administration for commercial lines business, along with delegated authority management and capacity reporting.

This is a QA role for someone who knows insurance. You'll design test coverage from an understanding of how the business actually works, not just from the acceptance criteria in front of you, and you'll contribute to a growing automated regression suite as features land.

You'll sit in a small QA function reporting to the Lead QA Engineer, with the autonomy that comes with a team this size and the judgement expected to match it. There's a clear route to senior QA or a more automation-focused role.

What you'll do

  • Own testing for your features and releases, from analysis through to sign-off
  • Design risk-based coverage grounded in the underwriting and policy administration process, deliberately hunting the scenarios the acceptance criteria missed
  • Challenge ambiguity in requirements before development, not after
  • Test the full policy lifecycle and everything downstream — premium, commission, tax, pro-rata adjustment, documentation and reporting output
  • Run structured exploratory testing where scripted coverage isn't the right tool
  • Extend automated regression cover as features are delivered, and add automated cover around defects once fixed
  • Keep the suite trustworthy: investigate failures properly rather than rerunning until green
  • Raise well-evidenced defects with a clear statement of business impact and scope
  • Support junior QAs as the team grows

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
