QA Engineer

💰 £450/day (Inside IR35)
📍 London, UK (2/3 days onsite)
📅 6-Month Contract

Our client, a top global organization, is looking for an experienced QA Engineer to join a major financial services transformation programme, helping deliver high-quality application and data engineering solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to work on enterprise-scale systems where quality, automation, and data validation are critical to business success. As a QA Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of critical applications and data platforms. You'll design and execute both manual and automated test cases, validate complex data pipelines, and work closely with developers, business analysts, and product owners throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute manual and automated test cases across functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
  • Validate financial calculations, transaction flows, compliance logic, and reporting outputs.
  • Perform end-to-end data validation across ETL pipelines, databases, data lakes, and reporting platforms.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using approved automation frameworks.
  • Execute performance and load testing to ensure application scalability.
  • Log, manage, and track defects using enterprise defect management tools.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product owners to define comprehensive test coverage.
  • Ensure applications comply with regulatory requirements including GDPR and SOX.
  • Maintain test documentation, knowledge repositories, and QA artefacts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes within Agile delivery teams.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience as a QA Engineer within enterprise environments.
  • Experience designing and executing manual and automated test cases.
  • Strong knowledge of transaction processing, reporting, and compliance validation.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as PyTest.
  • Strong SQL skills for validating complex datasets.
  • Experience testing ETL pipelines, data warehouses, data lakes, and reporting solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and Cosmos DB.
  • Python scripting experience.
  • Experience using TestRail, GitLab, or GitHub.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
