Briton Fabricators Ltd specializes in the design, build, installation, and refurbishment of a wide range of structural steelwork. The company delivers complex projects including steel viaducts, multi-span road bridges, sign and signal gantries, pedestrian footbridges, and both road and rail bridges. Its portfolio also includes temporary works, station steelwork, plate girders, access ramps, stairs, and other custom steel structures. Role Description

The Quality Assurance Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Hucknall. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s quality management systems to ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The Quality Assurance Manager will oversee inspection and testing activities, review fabrication and installation documentation, and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances. The role also collaborates with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure that all steel structures meet agreed quality, safety, and performance criteria.

Qualifications

  • Experience in quality management within structural steel fabrication, construction, or a related engineering environment, including oversight of inspection and testing processes.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001), as well as relevant industry codes and regulations applicable to steel structures and bridges.
  • Ability to conduct internal audits, manage non-conformance reports, lead root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, welding procedures, and material certifications, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to train and coach team members, collaborate across departments, and engage confidently with clients and external auditors.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a manufacturing and site-based environment.
  • Relevant technical qualification in engineering, quality management, or a related discipline; professional certifications in quality or inspection are an advantage.
