Quality Assurance Manager

Location: Airdrie, Scotland
Department: Technical
Reporting to: Site Technical Manager
Backshift- Monday-Thursday + Sunday 9am-5pm (every third Saturday)

We're looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead our Quality Assurance function, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, product quality and regulatory compliance across our operation.

The Role

As QA Manager, you will play a key role in driving quality standards throughout the business, working closely with production, operations, procurement and technical teams to maintain customer specifications and audit readiness at all times.

You'll lead and develop the quality team, manage site quality systems, support customer and third-party audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reduce non-conformances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop the Quality Assurance team.
  • Support and manage customer audits, BRCGS, Red Tractor and other external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with customer codes of practice, food safety standards and quality management systems.
  • Maintain the highest standards of GMP across the site and support GMP audit programmes.
  • Investigate quality incidents and non-conformances, implementing effective corrective and preventative actions.
  • Manage site pest control programmes and related compliance activities.
  • Monitor product quality throughout intake, production and dispatch.
  • Analyse quality KPI data and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Support HACCP and compliance meetings.
  • Work closely with production and operations teams to ensure products consistently meet customer specifications.
  • Manage quality documentation, procedures, risk assessments and customer requirements.
  • Ensure all testing schedules and sampling programmes are completed and actioned appropriately.

Requirements

  • Experience within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in quality assurance, quality control and food safety.
  • HACCP qualification and practical application experience.
  • Audit experience with BRCGS and customer standards.
  • Previous people management experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining food safety and quality management systems.
