QA Manager – Mechanical Subcontractor
📍 Location: Hertfordshire & Surrounding Counties
🏗️ Sector: New Build Residential Plumbing & Heating
💼 Position: Full-Time
We are looking for an experienced QA Manager to join our growing mechanical subcontracting business, working across a number of new build residential developments.
The role will be focused on maintaining and improving the quality of our plumbing, heating and mechanical installations, ensuring works are completed to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular quality inspections across live projects
- Inspect 1st fix, 2nd fix and completed mechanical installations
- Identify defects, non-compliant works and areas requiring improvement
- Work closely with Site Managers, Supervisors and operatives to resolve quality issues
- Ensure installations comply with drawings, specifications, manufacturer requirements and relevant industry standards
- Monitor snagging and ensure defects are closed out promptly
- Maintain clear QA records, inspection reports and photographic evidence
- Assist with developing and improving company QA procedures and inspection checklists
- Identify recurring issues and help implement improvements across projects
- Support the delivery of a consistent standard of workmanship across all sites

What We're Looking For
Ideally, you will have a strong background within the plumbing, heating or mechanical industry, with good practical knowledge of residential installations.
Previous experience in a QA, supervisory or management position would be beneficial, although we would also consider an experienced plumbing/heating professional looking to move into a dedicated quality role.
You should have:
- Strong knowledge of plumbing and heating installations
- Experience within new build residential construction
- A good understanding of Building Regulations, manufacturer requirements and industry standards
- Excellent attention to detail
- Confidence identifying and challenging poor workmanship
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently across multiple projects
- Full UK driving licence
