QA Manager – Food Manufacturing - Site Based role in Leicester

I’m working with a food manufacturer looking for an experienced QA Manager to take ownership of quality and food safety standards across its site.

This is a hands-on role with a strong people element. You’ll lead the QA team, support production with day-to-day decisions and make sure the systems behind the operation work in practice, not just on paper. You’ll also play a key role in audit preparation, customer requirements and continuous improvement.

It would suit someone who is comfortable spending time on the factory floor, can get to the root of a problem and knows how to bring teams with them when changes are needed.

The Role

• Lead, coach and develop the QA team, ensuring they have clear priorities and the support to make sound decisions.
• Maintain and improve the site’s quality management system, keeping procedures, records and specifications accurate and up to date.
• Manage HACCP plans and food safety controls, reviewing them when products, processes or risks change.
• Prepare for and lead customer, BRCGS and other relevant audits, then drive timely completion of any actions.
• Oversee internal audits, GMP inspections, traceability exercises and product testing programmes.
• Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances and incidents, identifying root causes and making sure corrective actions prevent repeat issues.
• Work closely with Production to resolve quality concerns while maintaining food safety and customer standards.
• Support NPD and process changes, ensuring new products can be produced consistently and meet agreed specifications.
• Monitor quality performance, identify trends and use the data to prioritise improvements across the site.
