About Us
Weldfast UK Limited is a leading provider within the welding industry, delivering high-quality products and services that support professionals and businesses across the country. We are committed to innovation, excellence and becoming the go-to business in the welding sector.
Backed by investors and supported by a strengthened leadership team, the business is currently undergoing a period of transformation. New senior hires are joining, systems and infrastructure are being upgraded, and the business is moving from a traditional, founder-led model to a more modern and scalable operation.
This is a genuine opportunity to join Weldfast at a pivotal moment and help shape the next stage of the business.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced and practical Quality Assurance Specialist to help develop, implement and maintain Weldfast’s quality management systems, support the successful achievement of ISO 9001 certification, and strengthen the company’s readiness for Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) compliance.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys creating structure, improving processes and ensuring the right evidence is in place to demonstrate compliance. You will take ownership of quality documentation, internal checks, audit preparation, non-conformance management, corrective actions and compliance records.
You will work across operations, procurement, logistics and finance, as well as with suppliers, external advisers and certification bodies where required. The successful candidate will be confident in constructively challenging existing processes and translating quality and compliance requirements into practical ways of working.
Working closely with the Operations Director, you will have a direct opportunity to influence how quality and compliance are embedded across the business.
What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System and ISO 9001
- Support the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of Weldfast’s ISO 9001 quality management system.
- Establish practical, proportionate and auditable quality processes that are embedded into day-to-day operations.
- Create and maintain controlled procedures, work instructions, process maps, forms, records and other quality documentation.
- Establish clear document-control arrangements, including version control, approvals, review dates and record retention.
- Help define process ownership and ensure teams understand their responsibilities within the quality management system.
- Maintain ISO implementation plans, action trackers and certification-readiness activities.
- Coordinate ISO 9001 gap assessments and support the business in closing identified gaps.
- Prepare audit evidence packs and ensure required records are complete, accurate and readily accessible.
- Support the business throughout the ISO 9001 certification process and subsequent surveillance or recertification audits.
Audits, Compliance and CBAM
- Plan and coordinate internal quality checks, process reviews and internal audit activity.
- Record audit findings clearly, identify required actions and monitor them through to effective closure.
- Prepare the business for external ISO 9001 audits, customer audits and certification-body reviews.
- Maintain clear, audit-ready evidence demonstrating compliance with relevant procedures and requirements.
- Coordinate the company’s readiness for Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) requirements.
- Maintain accurate product, supplier and import records relevant to CBAM.
- Identify goods potentially within scope and support checks of relevant CN codes and product information.
- Coordinate requests for supplier data and declarations.
- Collect, review and maintain relevant evidence, including supplier declarations, product-level emissions information, import volumes, countries of origin and customs documentation.
- Maintain appropriate records and trackers to support accurate and timely reporting.
- Identify gaps or inconsistencies in compliance information and work with relevant stakeholders to resolve them.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
