Quality Assurance Engineer (VR, Mobile & Desktop Applications)
Contract Duration: Remote (UK), 6-Month Contract
Remuneration: £43.27 Hourly Rate
We're seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to support the testing and release of a large-scale consumer application across VR, mobile, and desktop platforms. This role is ideal for someone with a strong QA background in gaming, VR/AR, or complex consumer-facing products who enjoys hands-on testing, identifying issues, and helping deliver stable releases.
The Role
As a dedicated QA owner, you'll be responsible for executing test plans, validating builds, identifying defects, and working closely with engineering teams to ensure high product quality across multiple platforms. You'll play a critical role in supporting weekly releases and maintaining a seamless user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute smoke, regression, and release testing across VR, mobile, and desktop platforms.
- Validate fixes before and after release deployment.
- Perform end-to-end testing of core user journeys and application functionality.
- Investigate and reproduce crashes, performance issues, and stability problems.
- Create detailed bug reports with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
- Maintain test plans, test cases, and release checklists.
- Support bug triage activities, including severity assessment and issue prioritisation.
- Identify opportunities for test automation and process improvements.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and Release teams to ensure quality standards are achieved.

Required Skills & Experience
- QA experience within gaming, VR/AR, mobile, or large-scale consumer applications.
- Experience executing regression testing and release validation against fixed delivery schedules.
- Hands-on testing experience on Android devices, including build installation and log analysis using ADB/Logcat.
- Strong defect management and bug-reporting skills.
- Experience creating and maintaining test plans and test cases.
- Ability to independently investigate issues and communicate technical findings clearly.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively under release deadlines.

Desirable Experience
- VR application testing experience.
- Knowledge of Unity and Unity log analysis.
- Multiplayer, social platform, or user-generated content (UGC) testing experience.
- Cloud-streaming application or gaming experience.
- Performance and memory profiling tools.
- Python, scripting, or test automation experience.
- Experience working within live-service release environments.
