Role Overview
To work as a member of the shift team to achieve departmental objectives and performance targets. Provide assistance to the team by carrying out activities which maintain compliance, assisting with corrective action.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow SOP’s, manuals, core procedures, and other defined standards.
- Have a flexible approach to work to meet the changing demands of the business.
- Adhere to and undertake all the tasks and accountabilities related to your work area and level of role.
- Be actively involved in setting standards, policing, and advising where necessary.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
People
- Integrate with the shift ensuring employees understand and adhere to best practice.
- Make sure all staff behave safely and you lead by example.
- Conduct your shift handover at the start and end of each shift in line with the handover standards.
- Competently liaise with customers and auditors.
Quality
- Conduct various analyses against defined parameters and report out of specification promptly.
- Maintain traceability at all times.
- Police the line paperwork to ensure adherence and completion in real time.
- Positively release the line back to production using defined swabbing schemes.
- Audit against the defined schedule (glass/hard plastic, bait box, GMP).
- Knowledge and adherence to customer-specific QAS.
Customer Service
- Know the main issues affecting the performance of your area during the last 24 hours.
- Communicate any issues promptly to the Shift Management.
- Liaise with customers regarding quality visits.

Cost Optimisation
- Take positive corrective action if the product is not meeting specification, including root cause analysis to prevent re-occurrence.
- Report any repeat issues that should not be there to Shift Management.
Health and Safety
- Ensure that you know your Food Safety and Health and Safety responsibilities.
- Ensure all PPE is worn correctly at all times.
- Ensure all equipment is cleaned in line with relevant CIC / SOP and QA Lab is kept clean at all times.
Continuous Improvement
- Be actively involved with continuous improvement projects and ensure all Quality procedures are followed.
Hygiene
- Embrace a CAYGO (Clean As You Go) approach to your work.
- Actively take part in weekly GMP audits with Shift Manager/Area Managers.
- Ensure that lines are walked and inspected throughout the day for:
- Floors are kept clean and dry.
- All raw materials and products are kept covered prior to use.
- All raw materials and packaging are stored correctly, close to the line when in use and off the floor.
- Ensure the work records table is clean, tidy, and foreign body free.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is kept off the floor and clean when on shadow boards with no damage.
- Ensure cleaning schedules are being adhered to and paperwork records completed.
- Ensure lines are being cleaned appropriately with relevant CIC / SOP.
- Ensure all cleaned equipment is visually inspected post clean.
- Ensure all areas are kept free from foreign body hazards.

Qualifications and Skills
- Literacy/Numeracy to National Standard Level 2.
- IT Skills – Word / Excel / Internal Systems.
- Level 3 Food Hygiene (Desirable).
- Level 3 HACCP (Desirable).
- Previous experience in Quality Assurance.
