IN A NUTSHELL

As a sports nutrition and health food manufacturer, we produce a wide range of products including powders, capsules, tablets and soft gels within our own manufacturing facility.

In this shift based role, you will be working closely with the operations team to ensure every product released to customers meets our Food Safety and Quality Standards. Reporting to the UK Site Quality Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring Food Safety and Quality within manufacturing that support our programs for BRC implementation.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

Quality control and product release

  • Carry out quality control checks during production, including CCP monitoring, label verification, weights and review of shift documentation.
  • Complete line clearance and start-up checks before production begins, including verification of allergen changeovers.
  • Carry out in-process checks appropriate to each product format (e.g. capsule and tablet weights).
  • Verify metal detection and foreign body controls at the required frequency.
  • Carry out hygiene and cleaning verification (e.g. ATP swabbing).
  • Complete organoleptic assessment of finished product against specification.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring and product sampling in line with quality management system requirements, and record results accurately.
  • Manage product under positive release, making sure it is held until results are approved and released in line with the release procedure.
  • Place product on hold where it does not meet specification or where food safety or quality is at risk, [including stopping production where necessary].
  • Make sure all stock on hold or in quarantine is resolved within specified timeframes, in line with the hold and release procedure.
  • Keep retained production samples organised, labelled and easy to locate.

Non-conformances and complaints

  • Raise non-conformances and support manufacturing with investigations, including root cause analysis.
  • Support the QA Manager with customer complaint investigations by gathering evidence, identifying likely root causes and following up agreed corrective actions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
