Position Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our Supply Chain here at our Head Office in South Shields. As QA Technician, you will partner across the business both internally and externally to ensure quality processes are followed and evolved to protect the brand values and manage the quality processes for product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the timely review and approval of all Black seal approvals, using PLM system to document to the suppliers.
  • Communicate with relevant suppliers to ensure any changes are followed for bulk.
  • Resolve and communicate quality decisions, feedback to the supplier, agree actions required and follow up on improvement plans.
  • Continually work with relevant suppliers to ensure quality systems and processes are followed, and product is improved, help to resolve any ongoing issues.
  • Working with the senior, collaborate with cross-functional teams i.e. production, technical, fabrics, quality team in Asia, to proactively reduce construction and production issues with product, sending detailed reports on findings in a timely manner.
  • Partnering with the senior to support the sustainability and ethical teams with allocated tasks and collaborations to improve Barbour’s environmental footprint.
  • Responsible for collating the quality data across selected product areas and global supply base.
  • Communicate with the quality team in Asia on relevant issues relating to quality and factory evaluation.
  • Work closely with the goods in / stock control team at the warehouse to ensure process through Goods In – QC – are controlled.
  • Support warehouse quality inspection issues – following AQL, assessing any failed product.
  • Conduct, review and report on factory evaluation auditing, working with the relevant teams on corrective action plans.

  • Proven track record in Quality Assurance
  • Experience of using an ERP system
  • Global manufacturing experience
  • Analytical / statistical strength
  • Very good communication
  • Meticulous and detailed
  • Personable yet persuasive
  • PLM experience is desirable but not essential
