The Quality Assurance Technologist (Nights)

The Quality Assurance Technologist (Nights) is responsible for ensuring that all products and production processes comply with food safety, legality, authenticity, and quality requirements at every stage of the manufacturing process.

Main Duties

  • Monitor and uphold all food safety, quality, and legal requirements.
  • Assess the quality of fruit throughout the production process to ensure compliance with internal and customer specifications.
  • Verify Critical Control Points (CCPs) to ensure all critical limits are consistently met.
  • Carry out daily checks on factory processes and procedures to ensure compliance and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Complete all QA paperwork accurately and consistently to record daily tasks, checks, and audits.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of company policies and procedures to support compliance and challenge non-conformance where required.
  • Identify and report any quality, food safety, or compliance concerns to QA Supervisors or the Customer Technical Team for prompt resolution.
  • Create new programmes in metal detectors and check weighers, and troubleshoot any issues during production.
  • Conduct detailed internal audits, including CCP, GMP, Fabrication, Glass and Hard Plastic, and other required assessments.
  • Collect and register product samples for microbiological testing.
  • Follow the sampling plan to correctly take and accurately register swabs, air plates, and water samples.
  • Follow all required personal hygiene practices and report any non-conformance.
  • Maintain an organised, tidy, and efficient working environment within the Technical Office and production areas.
  • Retrieve and collate documentation to support traceability requests.
  • Support and complete Print Room operations as required.
  • Conduct daily Taste Panels as needed, supporting the Taste Panel Coordinator.
  • Work proactively to identify and suggest improvements.
  • Demonstrate a strong customer-focused approach in all activities.
  • Provide support to the wider Technical Team when needed.

What You Need To Be Successful

  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • (Preferable) Experience working in a High Care Food Industry environment.
  • (Preferable) Experience working with fresh produce.
  • A proactive, high-energy approach to work.
  • Patience and a calm, understanding attitude.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • A strong team player.
  • (Preferable) Ability to drive.
  • (Preferable) Experience in the food industry.
  • (Preferable) Experience with Print Room operations and printing/editing software.

Hours and Days of Work

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

(17:30 to 05:30 or shift pattern as applicable)

Pay

Starting at £13.06 per hour (plus £0.50 per hour night shift allowance), paid weekly. Rising to £13.80 per hour after full training, (plus £0.50 per hour night shift allowance).
