QA & Test Engineer
A public sector organisation is seeking a QA & Test Engineer to join via a Consultancy to deliver an embedded capability to support the ongoing evolution, maintenance and enhancement of a cloud-based occupancy data platform hosted within AWS.
The platform ingests, processes and analyses data from multiple sources including WiFi networks, IoT sensors and wider property technology systems to provide occupancy insights and enable data-driven decision making.
We are seeking an experienced QA & Test Engineer to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle and provide assurance across platform functionality, integrations, data processing, reporting outputs and security controls.
Contract Details
- Initial contract until May 2027 with potential to be extended
- One day per week in the office in Central London
- Daily rate of £485 per day Outside IR35
- Requires existing SC clearance to be transferred to the client
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the overall testing strategy and quality assurance approach for the platform.
- Design, develop and execute manual and automated test suites.
- Validate platform functionality, integrations and end-to-end business workflows.
- Perform API, integration and data pipeline testing across AWS-hosted services.
- Verify data quality, transformation logic and reporting outputs.
- Support sprint acceptance activities through independent quality assurance and testing.
- Produce comprehensive test evidence aligned to acceptance criteria and delivery milestones.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
- Support deployment validation and release assurance activities.
- Investigate defects, perform root cause analysis and support remediation activities.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, architects and product teams to improve quality and test coverage.
- Monitor quality metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and reviews from a quality and testability perspective.
- Support performance, resilience, security and non-functional testing activities.
- Maintain robust test documentation, traceability and audit evidence.

- Active SC Clearance.
- Extensive experience in software testing and quality assurance within Agile delivery environments.
- Proven experience defining test strategies, test plans and quality assurance frameworks.
- Strong experience developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with API testing and systems integration testing.
- Experience validating complex data flows, transformations and reporting outputs.
- Strong capability across functional, regression and end-to-end testing.
- Experience embedding testing practices within CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of defect management, root cause analysis and risk-based testing methodologies.
- Strong SQL skills for data validation, reconciliation and analysis.
- Experience testing solutions within modern cloud-hosted environments.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience producing high-quality test plans, test evidence and assurance reporting.
