Quality Audit Underwriter
100% Remote | Up to £60,000 + 8% Bonus | Exceptional Benefits
Are you an experienced Life Underwriter looking to move away from high-volume case underwriting and use your expertise in a broader quality-focused role? We’re recruiting for a Underwriting Quality Auditor to join a highly regarded and established Life and Health insurer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small, close-knit team with a genuinely friendly culture, excellent flexibility and long-term career stability. The role is 100% remote and will suit an experienced Life/Protection Underwriter who enjoys analysing underwriting decisions, identifying trends and using their technical expertise to improve underwriting quality and customer outcomes.
The role
You’ll play a key role in the post-issue underwriting quality programme, reviewing both automated and manual underwriting decisions and ensuring appropriate underwriting standards are maintained.
- Reviewing random and targeted samples of underwriting decisions and completing post-issue audits
- Identifying potential non-disclosure and monitoring trends across different distribution channels
- Producing monthly audit findings and highlighting areas for improvement
- Reviewing the quality and consistency of automated underwriting decisions
- Working with the Automated Underwriting team to recommend improvements to question sets, underwriting philosophy and data collection
- Supporting improvements to underwriting processes, controls and customer communications
- Identifying and escalating operational risks and recommending appropriate mitigation
- Completing new business underwriting audits when required
- Supporting retrospective underwriting of claims
- Keeping up to date with underwriting philosophy, reinsurance manuals, regulatory requirements and internal guidelines
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
