Salary: £35,100 per annum Contract: Full-time, permanent Reporting to: Site Quality & Compliance Manager
About the opportunity
Do you have practical quality assurance experience in packaging or food manufacturing? We are looking for a Quality & Compliance Coordinator to deliver day-to-day QA activities at our food packaging manufacturing site in Hartlebury.
Reporting to the Site Quality Manager, you will work closely with production colleagues to maintain product quality, safety, and compliance. You will take responsibility for your assigned QA activities, with guidance and support from the Quality Manager.
This role would suit an experienced QA Technician, QA Officer, Quality Coordinator, or Technical Coordinator looking to build on their experience in a manufacturing environment.

What you will do
- Carry out and coordinate routine QA checks against product specifications, procedures, and customer requirements.
- Monitor manufacturing practices, hygiene, and contamination controls, working with production colleagues to address issues promptly.
- Identify, record, and escalate quality concerns and non-conforming products to the Quality Manager, supporting containment and follow-up actions.
- Maintain accurate quality records, procedures, specifications, and risk assessments within the site’s Quality Management System.
- Support compliance with BRCGS Packaging Materials, customer standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Conduct internal audits within your competence and support preparation for customer and certification audits.
- Investigate complaints and quality incidents, identify root causes, and follow up corrective actions through to completion.
- Support traceability checks and maintain the records needed to demonstrate effective product controls.
- Monitor quality performance, identify recurring issues, and contribute to practical improvements.
- Support staff training in quality procedures, product safety, and good manufacturing practices.
- Assist with supplier approval documentation and performance monitoring.

Essential experience and skills
- Proven experience in a practical QA, quality, technical, or compliance role within food packaging, food manufacturing, or a closely regulated manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of BRCGS Packaging Materials and experience working with a Quality Management System.
- Practical involvement in internal or external audits, including preparing evidence and following up non-conformances.
- Understanding of good manufacturing practices, HACCP principles, risk assessment, traceability, and contamination prevention.
- Experience investigating quality issues and using root cause analysis to support effective corrective action.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate, organized documentation.
- Confidence communicating with production colleagues, raising concerns, and following actions through.
- Ability to organize daily priorities, work independently on assigned activities, and recognize when to escalate an issue.

Previous people-management experience is not required.
Desirable
- Experience in packaging manufacturing or conversion.
- An internal auditor or Lead Auditor qualification in BRCGS or ISO standards.
- Knowledge of food-contact packaging safety requirements.
- Experience with product specifications, quality approval processes, and manufacturing process controls.
Location and attendance
This is a fully site-based role in Hartlebury, involving regular work within the manufacturing environment. Applicants must be based within practical daily commuting distance and able to attend the site reliably.
