QC Analyst – Essential Oils & Natural Products

Surrey

Permanent, full-time | Laboratory-based £30,000-35,000

We are recruiting a QC Analyst to join the analytical laboratory of an established international business specialising in essential oils and natural products.

This is a hands-on position involving instrumental analysis, physical testing, and organoleptic evaluation. The successful candidate will support the quality assessment of raw materials and finished products while helping maintain high standards of laboratory practice and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform chemical and physical analysis of essential oils, blends, and carrier oils.
  • Conduct GC/FID, GC/MS, HPLC, and FAME testing as required.
  • Carry out organoleptic evaluation of products and essential-oil matches.
  • Analyse and interpret data, communicating results to relevant departments.
  • Prepare and update Certificates of Analysis and Technical Data Sheets.
  • Complete routine instrument validation and maintain validation logs.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice.
  • Support the laboratory’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • Assist with SOPs, testing methods, safety procedures, and regulatory documentation.
  • Maintain an organised, clean, and safe laboratory environment.

About You:

  • A degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, or a related discipline.
  • Practical analytical laboratory experience.
  • Experience using GC/FID, GC/MS, or HPLC in a commercial laboratory environment.
  • Strong data analysis and technical reporting skills.
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
  • Able to work collaboratively with quality, production, development, and purchasing teams.
  • An interest in essential oils, flavours, fragrances, or natural products would be beneficial.
