Job Title: Quality Control Analyst – Maternity Cover (6–12 months)

Reports to: Martyn Deakin

Responsible to: Head of Materials Quality Control

Department: Materials Quality Control

Location: Manchester

About Us

Luxfer MEL Technologies is a global leader in high-performance magnesium and zirconium materials used in demanding applications worldwide. We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Analyst to join our Manchester Materials Quality Control team on a full-time, 6–12 month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover.

Bring your analytical experience to a specialist materials business where the quality of your work has a direct impact on production, customers and products used in demanding industries. Luxfer MEL Technologies is looking for an experienced Quality Control Analyst to join our Manchester Materials Quality Control team on a full-time fixed-term contract covering maternity leave.

You will carry out hands-on analysis, testing and inspection primarily across our magnesium product range, supporting incoming materials, in-process control and final product release. This is an excellent opportunity for an analyst who enjoys practical laboratory work, understands the importance of accurate and traceable results, and can confidently support a busy manufacturing operation.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and analyse raw materials, in-process samples and finished magnesium products.
  • Carry out metallurgical and analytical testing using techniques such as OES, XRF, tensile and corrosion testing.
  • Inspect material against specifications and visual standards, identifying and escalating nonconformities.
  • Maintain clear, accurate and traceable records, equipment checks and calibration status.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality and technical colleagues to deliver timely results and support investigations.
  • Contribute to safe working, audits, method improvements, 5S and continuous improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
