The role
As a Quality Control Coatings Inspector, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of one of the UK’s most ambitious shipbuilding programmes – the Type 31 Frigate. This is your chance to contribute to a project that supports national defence and global maritime security, while developing your career in a dynamic, hands-on environment.
Day-to-day you’ll be required to:
- Manage Inspection Test Records (ITRs) and maintain completion records in CMS.
- Coordinate third-party inspections and manage inspection schedules.
- Support the Quality Manager in achieving project-wide quality and governance objectives.
- Inspect structural and piping coatings in a fast-paced shipbuilding environment.
- Liaise with Lloyds Register and other verification bodies to ensure compliance.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday and is based on site at Rosyth.

- In-depth understanding of coatings inspection and quality assurance processes.
- Excellent communication and report writing abilities.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Control within Coatings.
- Ability to assess and assure the quality of work by production teams and subcontractors.
Qualifications For The Quality Control Coatings Inspector
- Minimum ICORR Level 2 CIS / NACE Level 2 / FROSIO Level 2.
- ICORR Level 2 in Thermal and Acoustic Insulation – Preferred

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
