Quality Assurance Inspector – Aerospace

Location: Bristol
Salary: £32,000 per annum
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We’re recruiting a hands-on Quality Assurance Inspector to join an established aerospace manufacturing business in Bristol.

This role will be approximately 80% shop floor based and 20% office based, working closely with production, quality and warehouse teams to ensure materials and machined components meet the required quality, traceability and customer standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out First Article Inspections and routine quality checks
  • Inspect basic billet preparation using verniers, tape measures and micrometers
  • Check material lot numbers, dimensions and traceability documentation
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Check critical features including grain flow, square faces, milled surfaces and counterbores
  • Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports
  • Control non-conforming products and quarantine areas
  • Support Root Cause Analysis using 8D, 5 Why and other problem-solving methods
  • Implement QA gates and conduct site-wide 6S audits
  • Support AS9100, customer and supplier quality audits
  • Check Certificates of Conformity and maintain accurate quality records
  • Create training documentation and brief machine operators on quality processes

About You

You will ideally have:

  • Quality inspection experience within aerospace, engineering, manufacturing or metal stockholding
  • Experience using verniers, micrometers, calipers and tape measures
  • The ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • A good understanding of warehouse and material-handling standards
  • Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 or ISO 14001
  • Familiarity with 8D, 5 Why, Root Cause Analysis or similar problem-solving methods
  • An understanding of machining processes and basic G-code awareness
  • Strong attention to detail and a naturally inquisitive approach
  • The confidence to question, check and double-check anything that does not look right
  • Good communication skills when working with machine operators, management and customers
  • A forklift licence would be advantageous, allowing you to move materials in and out of the quarantine area when required.
